New Megablitz unit, the 3rd DLM!

Over 1,000 hits! Anyway, made another unit for Megablitz. This time it was the French 3rd DLM. This well be a good unit to use against my 4th Panzer Division.

Here's the unit prior to painting. Note I haven't gotten to adding the personnel figures to the stands. All the miniatures are H&R except for the motorcycles with sidecars. Those are GHQ Germans (not that you can really tell).

First we have the 12th Cuirassiers Regiment with two recon battalions, each with one armored car company and one motorcycle company.

Next up is the 1st and 2nd Cuirassiers Regiments, each with one medium tank battalion of S-35 tanks and one light tank battalion with H-35 Tanks.

The tanks are followed up by the 11th Dragoons Regiment. Each of the three battalions in the regiment was made up of 2 motorized companies and one motorcycle company. I decided to represent this with two motorized stands and one motorcycle stand. Each battalion also had one company of AMR light tanks. I made a separate stand to represent these companies so they could be used as infantry fire support.

Last up we have the ash and trash taking up the rear. This includes from left to right: the Division HQ, the 39th Engineer Battalion, the 76th Artillery Regiment, and the Division Supply Battalion.

Finally we have the whole division together, a rather formidable sight. The DLMs were probably the closest thing the French had to match a German panzer division.

4th Panzer Division Done

I finished my 4th Panzer division a couple of days ago. Here's what it looks like.

I might go back and paint some smaller details later but for now their good for gaming purposes. Now I just need to set up some enemies for them to fight.

4th Panzer Division

I decided to take a break from painting ship models and started rebasing my World War II microarmour for Megablitz again. Megablitz is a set rules used to fight very large battles. Each stand in the game represents a battalion or in some case a regiment/brigade. Each recon stand represents a recon company. The base unit in the game is the division with small game being between 2-4 divisions or 2 Corps. I've decided to start with the 4th Panzer Division.

The division is organized as it was in 1940, which makes this good for 1939-42. In Megablitz it brakes down as follows.

The early panzer division were over powered with 2 panzer regiments (Shown here represented by a PzIII, PzIV, and 2 PzII), the 4th Panzer division also didn't have a motorcycle battalion all though I might add one later. When I get enough units together I hope to find a few players to try the game out.
